Abstract: Briefly recounts circumstances of Shackleton's 1914-17 Endurance Antarctic expedition resulting in group of men spending ten months on Elephant Island awaiting rescue. Describes Frank Wild's leadership of this group and difficulties with Thomas Orde Lees; environment of and life at Cape Wild including hut constructed there, food provisions, tobacco use, morale, distractions, and illness; and final relief of party.
