Record #207594:

Stability analysis of the Labrador Current / Sören Thomsen, Carsten Eden, Las Czeschel.

Title: Stability analysis of the Labrador Current / Sören Thomsen, Carsten Eden, Las Czeschel.
Author(s): Thomsen, Sören.
Eden, Carsten.
Czeschel, Las.
Date: 2014.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2014.), Vol. 44(2) (2014)
Abstract: Investigates frontal instability process along Labrador Current (LC), focusing on why enhanced eddy kinetic energy (EKE) levels are observed only during late winter. Uses high-resolution ocean model simulation and observational current data, and applies linear stability analysis to understanding physics of frontal instability processes occurring within LC. Identifies three dominant modes of instability: balanced shallow mode; balanced interior mode; and unbalanced symmetric mode.
