Abstract: Examines uncertainties in interface thermodynamics and their impact on ice dynamics. Assesses whether three versions of thermodynamic equations produce melt rates sufficiently different to affect ice-ocean system; applies simplified, fully-coupled ocean-ice shelf-ice stream model to assess range of grounding-line retreat resulting from uncertainty in drag coefficient; repeats some fixed-shelf experiments for multiple ice shelf depth profiles to examine relationship between melt rate and basal slope.
