Abstract: Reports amendments to marine safety regulations and protocols drafted by International Maritime Organization's Sub-Committee on Ship Design and Equipment. Includes developments to draft mandatory international code of safety for ships operating in polar waters (Polar Code). Polar Code is intended to cover full range of shipping-related matters relevant to navigation in polar waters: ship design, construction and equipment; operational and training concerns; search and rescue; and protection of marine environment.
