Abstract: Examines evolution of present-day national celebrations among Teleuty, who live in Kemerovskaya Oblast' in south-western Siberia. Demonstrates connections with Christian celebratory calendar formerly popular with Teleuty, and also with Soviet official holidays. Analyses structure and function of celebrations today. Examines recent rise of "kin" celebrations as well as traditional ethnic holidays.
