| Abstract: | Investigates how Nentsy reindeer-herding migratory brigades on Yamal peninsula in Yamalo-Nenetskiy Avtonomnyy Okrug negotiate travel through sentient landscape inhabited by reindeer, spirits and deities. Concludes that, contrary to assumptions about mobile pastoralists, Yamal's nomadic people do construct and engage with sacred sites, places of reindeer ritual sacrifice and burial grounds. |
