Interactions between seasonal snow cover, ground surface temperature and topography (Andes of Santiago, Chile, 33.5° S) / Jotham Apaloo, Alexander Bronning, Xavier Bodin.
Title: | Interactions between seasonal snow cover, ground surface temperature and topography (Andes of Santiago, Chile, 33.5° S) / Jotham Apaloo, Alexander Bronning, Xavier Bodin. |
Author(s): | Apaloo, Jotham. Bronning, Alexander. Bodin, Xavier. |
Date: | 2012. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (2012.), Vol. 23(4) (2012) |
Abstract: | Analyses two one-year ground surface temperature (GST) time series in semi-arid Andes of Santiago from 2009-11 and uses linear mixed-effects models to quantify effects of site characteristics on mean GST and ground surface thermal regime. Also analyses effects of snow cover onset and disappearance dates on mean GST. Suggests that spatial patterns of mean GST serve as proxy for lower limit of permafrost occurrence. |
