Record #206290:

Adaptation in Finnish climate governance / Monica Tennberg.

Title: Adaptation in Finnish climate governance / Monica Tennberg.
Author(s): Tennberg, Monica.
Date: 2012.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Springer
In: Governing the uncertain : adaptation and climate in Russia and Finland. (2012.),
Abstract: Although Finland takes its reponsibilities in climate politics seriously, it has only recently accepted that it could be vulnerable to direct impacts of climate change. Finnish adaptation governance is chiefly internationally oriented and will become more so, with development of European Union adaptation policies. Current Finnish adaptation strategies are focused on Lapland and its capital Rovaniemi, with concerns that major economic issues such as forestry, reindeer herding and tourism may be affected. Because of problems in inter-departmental cooperation, however, no special measures yet exist to promote regional adaptation policies. Finnish population is well-informed but generally passive.
