Distinct communities of free-living and copepod associated microorganisms along a salinity gradient in Godthåbsfjord, west Greenland / Claudia Dziallas, and 3 others.
Title: | Distinct communities of free-living and copepod associated microorganisms along a salinity gradient in Godthåbsfjord, west Greenland / Claudia Dziallas, and 3 others. |
Author(s): | Dziallas, Claudia. |
Date: | 2013. |
In: | Arctic, Antarctic, and Alpine Research. (2013.), Vol. 45(4) (2013) |
Abstract: | Presents comparison between microbial community in ambient water with those associated with two copepod species (Calanus finmarchicus and Metridia longa) in Godthåbsfjord, west Greenland. Investigates how microbial communities vary along fjord in relation to environmental variables. Results show that zooplankton form "microbial islands" in Arctic pelagic realm with distinctive community composition and different functionality from free-living Bacteria. |
