Record #205611:

Time-mean flow as the prevailing contribution to the poleward heat flux across the southern flank of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current: a case study in the Fawn Trough, Kerguelen Plateau / H. Sekma, and 3 others.

Title: Time-mean flow as the prevailing contribution to the poleward heat flux across the southern flank of the Antarctic Circumpolar Current: a case study in the Fawn Trough, Kerguelen Plateau / H. Sekma, and 3 others.
Author(s): Sekma, H.
Date: 2013.
In: Journal of Physical Oceanography. (2013.), Vol. 43(3) (2013)
Abstract: Describes study analysing moored current meter data obtained in Fawn Trough, Kerguelen Plateau, to estimate cross-stream heat flux caused by time-mean flow and transient eddies. Results show that poleward eddy heat flux is negligible, while that from mean flow is overwhelming. Discusses reason for this, and circumpolar implications of observations.
