Kuujjua River Arctic char: monitoring stock trends using catches from an under-ice subsistence fishery, Victoria Island, Northwest Territories, Canada, 1991-2009 / Lois A. Harwood, and 3 others.
Title: | Kuujjua River Arctic char: monitoring stock trends using catches from an under-ice subsistence fishery, Victoria Island, Northwest Territories, Canada, 1991-2009 / Lois A. Harwood, and 3 others. |

Abstract: | Reports results of standardised harvest-based monitoring programme conducted during winter operation of main under-ice subsistence fishery for Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) in Kuujjua River, NWT, between 1991 and 2009. Programme was initiated in response to concerns of Ulukhaktok residents that Arctic char were becoming fewer in number and smaller in size. Results indicate that char stock can be strongly influenced by environmental variability, particularly timing of spring ice clearance. |
