Record #205026:

Animal source food intake and association with blood cholesterol, glycerophospholopids and sphingolipids in a northern Swedish population / Wilmar Igl, and 6 others.

Title: Animal source food intake and association with blood cholesterol, glycerophospholopids and sphingolipids in a northern Swedish population / Wilmar Igl, and 6 others.
Author(s): Igl, Wilmar.
Date: 2013.
In: International Journal of Circumpolar Health. (2013.), Vol. 72(supp.1) (2013)
Abstract: Examines association between diet and circulating levels of blood lipids in northern Swedish population. Compares group with traditional lifestyle (TLS) based on reindeer herding with group from same area with non-traditional lifestyle (NTLS) typical of more industrialised regions of Sweden. Finds that high game meat consumption of TLS group is associated with increased cholesterol levels. Suggests that dietary phospholipids, which are found in high levels specifically in game meat, may be inhibiting cholesterol absorption.
