Abstract: Describes preliminary search for new operations base for National Science Foundation on Greenland Ice Sheet, which would support science projects and operations that do not require clean air/clean snow environment. This follows intention to convert Summit Station into clean air/clean snow research facility. New site will also support 109th Airlift Wing of Air National Guard which requires new training site. Search is based on information gathering from stakeholders, weather trends and traversability of target sites, and GIS analysis. Recommends subsequent satellite imagery analysis, meteorological monitoring, and site visit.
