Record #204907:
On the coupled response to ice-shelf basal melting / Christopher M. Little, and 3 others.
Title: | On the coupled response to ice-shelf basal melting / Christopher M. Little, and 3 others. |
Author(s): | Little, Christopher M. |
Date: | 2012. |
In: | Journal of Glaciology. (2012.), Vol. 58(208) (2012) |
Abstract: | Examines interaction between ice shelf basal melting and ice shelf morphology using local parametrisation that relates basal melt rate to ice shelf thickness gradient. Time-dependent numerical simulations reveal spatial and temporal evolution of ice-shelf/ice stream systems in response to changes in ocean temperature, and influence of morphology-dependent melting on grounding-line retreat. Results explain higher basal melt rates of ice shelf in Amundsen Sea, Antarctica. |
