Record #204808:

Diminishing sea-ice extent and thickness in the Arctic Ocean / Peter Wadhams.

Title: Diminishing sea-ice extent and thickness in the Arctic Ocean / Peter Wadhams.
Author(s): Wadhams, Peter.
Date: 2013.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Springer
In: Environmental security in the Arctic Ocean. (2013.),
Abstract: Presents reasons for reduction in Arctic sea ice extent since 1900, and methods used to monitor ice thickness, including submarine sonar, sidescan sonar, multibeam sonar, autonomous underwater vehicle sonar, drifting sonar, moored upward sonar, airborne laser profilometry, airborne electromagnetic techniques, drilling, radar altimetry, and satellite laser altimetry. Discusses global implications including effect on lower latitude ocean circulation. Discusses future measurement needs.
