Cooperation or conflict in the new Arctic? Too simple a dichotomy! / Rob Huebert.

Title: Cooperation or conflict in the new Arctic? Too simple a dichotomy! / Rob Huebert.
Author(s): Huebert, Rob.
Date: 2013.
Publisher: Dordrecht: Springer
In: Environmental security in the Arctic Ocean. (2013.),
Abstract: Examines increasingly complex Arctic security environment. Argues that, while leaders of Arctic nations (as well as increasing number of non-Arctic nations that are showing increasing interest in region) have issued statements promising peace and cooperation, expenditures on military facilities suggest that security concerns remain important. Although there are currently no active flashpoints in Arctic Ocean, willingness of states to spend suggests that they are addressing serious security concerns.
