MODIS-informed greenness responses to daytime land surface temperature fluctuations and wildfire disturbances in the Alaskan Yukon River Basin / Zhengxi Tan, and 6 others.
Title: | MODIS-informed greenness responses to daytime land surface temperature fluctuations and wildfire disturbances in the Alaskan Yukon River Basin / Zhengxi Tan, and 6 others. |
Author(s): | Tan, Zhengxi. |
Date: | 2013. |
In: | International Journal of Remote Sensing. (2013.), Vol. 34(5-6) (2013) |
Abstract: | Evaluates post-fire green-up rate in boreal forest of Yukon River Basin, interior Alaska, using normalised difference vegetation rate index (NDVI) derived from eMODIS data acquired between 2000 and 2009. Analysis indicates measureable effects on NDVI values from vegetation type, burn severity, post-fire time, and climatic variables. Concludes that wildfires can enhance greenness. Maximum greenness may occur about 50 years after fire disturbances in Alaskan Yukon River Basin, but time could vary with burn severity class, type of succession vegetation communities, and other biophysical conditions. |
