Record #204296:
Changing seasonality and phenological responses of free-living male arctic ground squirrels: the importance of sex / Michael J. Sheriff, and 3 others.
Title: | Changing seasonality and phenological responses of free-living male arctic ground squirrels: the importance of sex / Michael J. Sheriff, and 3 others. |
Author(s): | Sheriff, Michael J. |
Date: | 2013. |
Publisher: | [London]: The Royal Society |
Abstract: | Investigates long term (13-year) phenology of hibernating male Arctic ground squirrels (Urocitellus parryii) inhabiting two sites in northern Alaska that experience different snow-cover regimes. Results suggest that conclusion of heterothermy in male ground squirrels is influenced by soil temperatures and endogenous circannual clock, but that timing of male emergence from hibernation is influenced by timing of female emergence. |
