Record #204188:

Waves in the ocean / Paul H. LeBlond, Lawrence A. Mysak.

Title: Waves in the ocean / Paul H. LeBlond, Lawrence A. Mysak.
Author(s): LeBlond, Paul H.
Mysak, Lawrence A.
Date: 1978.
Publisher: Amsterdam: Elsevier Scientific
Abstract: Presents broad review ranging from capillary to planetary waves, with emphasis on modern developments and with graduate-level exercises at end of most sections. Introduces basic equations, approximations, and general properties of plane and nearly-plane waves. Three chapters on free waves cover short wavelengths, long wavelengths, and lateral boundary effects. Remaining chapters cover: statistical and probabilistic methods; wave interactions; wave-current interactions (critical layer absorption and stability of parallel flows); and generation and dissipation of waves.
Keywords: 551.46 -- Oceanography, physical.
551.466 -- Waves and tides, marine.
53 -- Physics.
551.466.3 -- Waves, marine, caused by wind.
551.466.6 -- Waves, marine.
