Record #204143:

Holocene range of Mytilus edulis in central east Greenland / Ole Bennike, Bernd Wagner.

Title: Holocene range of Mytilus edulis in central east Greenland / Ole Bennike, Bernd Wagner.
Author(s): Bennike, Ole.
Wagner, Bernd.
Date: 2013.
In: Polar Record. (2013.), Vol. 49(250) (2013)
Abstract: Reports results of radio-carbon age determination on shells of common mussel (Mytilus edulis). Finds that M. edulis lived continuously in east Greenland from ca 9500 to ca 5400 cal. years BP. Oldest shells are found at outer coast and species may have spread to central and inner fjords. It is possible that species was dispersed from Iceland by geese rather than from Svalbard by ocean currents.
