Abstract: Reports effects of breakdown of Soviet collectivisation policy on indigenous population of small village on Kola Peninsula. Three new buildings (church, hotel and multi-cultural centre) have been established by Russian, Norwegian and Swedish governments respectively. Disputes over land rights have arisen between Saami and other indigenous groups, and between indigenes as whole and influx of entrepreneurial 'New Russians'. These problems have yet to be resolved.
