Abstract: Outlines Spain's involvement in 2007-08 International Polar Year. For historical reasons, Spanish polar research activities have been focused mainly on Antarctic. However, Spanish researchers have used other nations' Arctic scientific installations in recent years, and Spain was admitted in 2003 to Arctic Council as observer on basis of scientific achievement.
