Record #203457:

Athabascans of the Interior: a new perspective on neglect in Alaska historiography / John W. Heaton.

Title: Athabascans of the Interior: a new perspective on neglect in Alaska historiography / John W. Heaton.
Author(s): Heaton, John W.
Date: 2012.
In: Pacific Northwest Quarterly. (2012.), Vol. 103(3) (2012)
Abstract: Discusses how writers have portrayed history of Athabascan Indians of central Alaska (between Brooks Range and Alaska Range) and considers new directions for research. Argues that historical neglect of Interior Athabascans must be corrected to present more complete history of Alaska and, for this purpose, better understanding of patterns and processes prior to contact must be explored to provide necessary context for arrival of Europeans.
