Record #202911:
Data management best practices for sea ice observations / Florence Fetterer.
Title: | Data management best practices for sea ice observations / Florence Fetterer. |
Author(s): | Fetterer, Florence. |
Date: | 2009. |
Publisher: | Fairbanks, AK: University of Alaska |
In: | Field techniques for sea ice research. (2009.), |
Abstract: | Discusses: data stewardship; data and metadata submission and formatting; responsibilities of authors, data managers, funding agencies, and end users; etc. Lists considerations for good management of field data, including common/standard formats for files and content, metadata, documentation, local and traditional knowledge and community-based observations, and oceanographic data management. Identifies relatively high overhead costs associated with managing datasets derived from sea ice observations from field experiments, noting considerable variation, and lack of economy of scale offered by remote sensing data. |
Notes: | In: Field techniques for sea ice research / Hajo Eicken, and 5 others, eds. |
