| Abstract: | Discusses ice-ocean interaction in context of both physical and biogeochemical processes in oceanic boundary layer (OBL) beneath sea ice. Presents general theoretical framework applicable to OBL. Discusses estimation of turbulent fluxes. Introduces field measurement technologies with examples of resulting data sets. Examines in detail influence of oceanic heat flux on evolution of ice thickness, explaining approaches to estimating oceanic heat flux, including eddy correlation technique, and bulk, temperature-profile, and residual methods. Discusses example of numerical modelling of Saramo-ko lagoon, on Okhotsk Sea coast of Hokkaido. |
