Record #202886:

Aerial photogrammetry in glacier studies / Andreas Kääb.

Title: Aerial photogrammetry in glacier studies / Andreas Kääb.
Author(s): Kääb, Andreas.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: London: Taylor & Francis
In: Remote sensing of glaciers : techniques for topographic, spatial and thematic mapping of glaciers. (2010.),
Abstract: Discusses use in glaciology of aerial photogrammetry, usually based on single original image data, overlapping image data (stereo techniques), or transformed data (orthorectified images, e.g.). Covers: interpretation and mapping; generation of digital terrain models, based on analogue and analytical photogrammetry, digital photogrammetry of frame imagery, or digital photogrammetry of airborne pushbroom imagery; errors of photogrammetric DEMs; vertical DEM differences (i.e. glacier elevation changes); and lateral terrain displacements (based on analogue and analytical photogrammetry or digital image matching). Draws examples particularly from Grubengletscher case study, also Nigardsbreen, Norway, and Giacciaio del Belvedere, Italy. Discusses limitations associated with, e.g., poor radiometric contrast on snow surfaces.
