Terrestrial photogrammetry in glacier studies / Kari Kajuutti, and 4 others.
Title: | Terrestrial photogrammetry in glacier studies / Kari Kajuutti, and 4 others. |
Author(s): | Kajuutti, Kari. |
Date: | 2010. |
Publisher: | London: Taylor & Francis |
In: | Remote sensing of glaciers : techniques for topographic, spatial and thematic mapping of glaciers. (2010.), |
Abstract: | Discusses use of terrestrial photogrammetry in glaciology, from late 19th century glacier mapping from photographs (representing first use of remote sensing in glaciology) to modern use mainly for analysing changes in small areas and time windows not amenable to airborne or spaceborne remote sensing. Covers: basic principles, use of stereo images for topographic mapping, and multi-station photography for accurate point measurements; and early use of analogue images, digital terrestrial photogrammetry (including digitising of older analogue photographs). Uses 2002/03 Hintereisferner case study within OMEGA project to demonstrate glacier digital elevation model (DEM) generation from terrestrial close-range photographs, discussing glacier surface as object for terrestrial photography, setting and equipment, orientations and DEM production, and DEMs generated. |
