Record #202880:

Principles of remote sensing / W. Gareth Rees, Petri Pellikka.

Title: Principles of remote sensing / W. Gareth Rees, Petri Pellikka.
Author(s): Rees, W. Gareth.
Pellikka, Petri.
Date: 2010.
Publisher: London: Taylor & Francis
In: Remote sensing of glaciers : techniques for topographic, spatial and thematic mapping of glaciers. (2010.),
Abstract: Identifies part of electromagnetic (EM) spectrum useful in passive and active remote sensing of glaciers, from ultraviolet to microwave wavelengths, and discusses what properties of EM radiation can be measured, and at what spatial, spectral, radiometric and temporal resolutions. Describes how EM measurements are converted into information about glaciers, using passive systems such as visible/near infrared and thermal infrared scanners, and active systems such as laser scanning (LiDAR) and ground-penetrating and synthetic aperture radars. Briefly discusses data accessibility.
