Geomorphological features and cartography of the Gran Sasso d'Italia Massif between Corno Grande-Corno Piccolo and Pizzo Intermesoli / Massimo D'AquilaPinuccio Pecci.
Title: | Geomorphological features and cartography of the Gran Sasso d'Italia Massif between Corno Grande-Corno Piccolo and Pizzo Intermesoli / Massimo D'AquilaPinuccio Pecci. |
Author(s): | Pecci, Massimo D'AquilaPinuccio. |
Date: | 2011. |
In: | Geografia Fisica e Dinamica Quaternaria. (2011.), Vol. 34(1) (2011) |
Abstract: | Presents geomorphological study and cartography (including 1:10,000-scale map) forming part of multidisciplinary study that includes snow profile monitoring and meteo-climatic, geomorphological and glaciological surveys and is aimed at characterizing and mitigating active geomorphological processes. Describes geomorphological survey and cartography; structural landforms; slope landforms due to gravity; landforms due to running water; and karst, glacial, cryogenic/nivation, and anthropogenic landforms. Identifies glacial footprint in numerous inactive erosive and accumulative landforms related to Last Glacial Maximum and in presence of Ghiaccio del Calderone (most southern in Europe). Landforms related to cryogenic processes are common, as are karst landforms, and fluvial, fluvio-glacial and slope landforms created by running water. |
