[The performance of the pyramid type roof adopted natural dripping method: the observation results in the wet snow heavy snowfall area] / Daisuke Fukazawa.

Title: [The performance of the pyramid type roof adopted natural dripping method: the observation results in the wet snow heavy snowfall area] / Daisuke Fukazawa.
Translated title: The performance of the pyramid type roof adopted natural dripping method: the observation results in the wet snow heavy snowfall area.
Author(s): Fukazawa, Daisuke.
Date: 2012.
Language: Japanese.
In: Journal of Snow Engineering of Japan. (2012.), Vol. 28(4) (2012)
Abstract: Assesses performance of pyramid-type roof structure designed to increase rate of snowmelt and constructed at Tochioharamachi, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture in 1996. Structure includes rectangular array of square-based pyramids. Snow lying 225 cm deep on January 2011 represented first occasion on which pipes connecting heads of pyramids were buried. Reports melt rates of 18.9 kg/m²/day from late January to early February, 13.3 kg/m²/day over snowmelt period (c.f. 9.5 kg/m²/day on ground), and 7.7 kg/m²/day over entire continuous snow cover period (c.f. design target of 10 kg/m²/day). Attributes increased snow melt rate to increase of surface area enhancing effect of solar radiation.
