Abstract: | Reports erosion rates measured over seven years on slopes around western side of Mt. Naeba (2145 m a.s.l.), and sediment caused by avalanches in headwaters of Shirokurasawa River at eastern side of Mt. Torikabuto (2037 m a.s.l.) measured over three winters. Slope erosion rates averaged 1-3 mm in rainy season and 2-6 mm in snowy season, owing to glide of snow. Deposit debris in full-depth avalanche contains soil, cobble, and trees (about 2% weight). Total sediment yield from full-depth avalanche is about 73 m³ and erosion rate is about 6 mm during snow season 2001/02. |
