| Abstract: | Describes uses of traditional and modern techniques to produce centennial editions of famous map of Brenta Massif. Describes significance of 1908 map, neglect of glacier updating in subsequent editions, and field campaign beginning in August 2008, including terrestrial laser scanning and direct geotagged stereo field photography. Describes difficulties of working in extreme terrain, identifying true glacier extents beneath scree, etc. Describes digital data processing and cartography, use of ultra-high resolution QuickBird satellite imagery, and complementing of glacier retreat areas with classical manual scree and rock drawing. |
