| Abstract: | Describes surname patterns and changes of surname among Swedish Saami, based on results of three studies: survey of present-day stock of surnames among Saami community; study of changes of name by Swedish Saami to newly-formed surnames between 1920 and 2004; and investigation of name changes in favour of names marked as Saami in character, using archive material and results of interviews with Saami informants who have themselves adopted Saami-language surnames. |
