Изменчивость снежности зим на юго-востоке полуострова Камчатка

Title: Изменчивость снежности зим на юго-востоке полуострова Камчатка
Title, transliterated: Izmenchivostʹ snezhnosti zim na i︠u︡go-vostoke poluostrova Kamchatka / A.A. Grit︠s︡.
Translated title: Variability of winter snowiness in south-east of Kamchatka peninsula.
Author(s): Grit︠s︡, A. A.
Date: 2012.
Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2012.), Vol. 3(119) (2012)
Abstract: Analyzes snow cover depth data and discusses possibilities for development of skiing, tourism and mountaineering. Examines variability of meteorological parameters during winters 2004/05 and 2005/06 at Petropavlovsky station and snow depth surveys for winters 2003-2006. Identifies four types of winter over period 1935-2006: high-snowy, mid-snowy, little-snowy, and unstable snowy. Average maximum snow depth is 133 cm (min 60 cm in 1939, max 272 cm in 2005). Exceptional snowiness presents possibility of year-round mountain skiing season. Average date of stable snow cover formation is November 12, median latest date May 22. Mid-March to mid-April presents best conditions for winter recreation, with maximal snow depth, long sunshine duration, and air temperature close to 0°C.
