| Abstract: | Discusses effects of spatial redistribution of snow by wind on exploitation of linear constructions, cornice formation, etc. Notes that observations of snow-drift are not routinely made at hydrometeorological stations. Discusses existing methods of calculating volume of snow-drift transport from hydrometeorological station data (e.g., wind speed) alone. Calculates intensity and volume of snow-drift transport for two parts of west coast of south-Sakhalin (Tomari and Chirai) using different methods and data from Il'insk meteorological station. Identifies need to improve snow-drift research with aim of solving practical problems. |
