Translated title: Mathematical modelling of ice flow in Dronning Maud Land, and its application to Late Quaternary climate palaeoreconstructions within the framework of the EPICA programme and its application in the palaeoreconstructions of Late Quaternary climate.
Author(s): Rybak, O. O.

Language: Russian.
In: Led i Sneg. (2012.), Vol. 3(119) (2012)
Abstract: Calculates topographic bias (i.e. non-climatic and due to ice advection from higher elevations and local vertical ice sheet movements) in temperature time series reconstructed from EPICA ice core. Applies methodology based on mathematical ice flow modelling, noting that in lower part of ice sheet ice chronology and non-climatic biases are strongly affected by unknown geothermal heat flux, G. Presents nested domain model and simulations of ice surface velocity and elevation in vicinities of Kohnen Station and Dome Fuji. Presents estimates of ice particle trajectories, and ice depth-age distributions and non-climatic bias in lower part of ice core, based on numerical experiments with G 5-30% above average Antarctic value.
