Title, transliterated: Geokhimii︠a︡ plastovykh lʹdov ostrova Novai︠a︡ Sibirʹ (Novosibirskie ostrova, Rossiĭskai︠a︡ Arktika) kak otrazhenie usloviĭ ikh genezisa / V.V. Ivanova.
Translated title: Geochemical features of formation of massive ground ice bodies (New Siberia Island, Siberian Arctic) as evidence of their genesis.
Author(s): Ivanova, V. V.
Date: 2012.
Language: Russian.
In: Kriosfera Zemli. (2012.), Vol. 16(1) (2012)
Abstract: Presents preliminary results of study of macro- and trace element composition of massive ground ice and enclosing Quaternary sediments of Novosibirskiye Islands, carried out during expedition "The high-latitude Arctic: Nature and Man" as part of Russian-American research project "Zhokhov-2000". Analyses chemical composition (metals, major ions, rare earths, oxygen and hydrogen isotopes, etc.) of massive ground ice and possible mechanisms of formation. Discusses inferred injected origin of lower horizon of massive ground ice and suggests that upper horizon is probably of intrasoiled origin as result of segregation ice formation.
