Abstract: Applies basin modelling package GALO, together with specific modification FROST, to numerically reconstruct temperature and heat flow distributions with depth during basin subsidence and assess permafrost evolution during Pliocene-Quaternary. Present computations for sedimentary sections of Urengoy field in West Siberian Basin and Kuyumbinskaya field in Kamov Arch on East Siberian Platform. Calculations of thermal regime of sedimentary stratum evidence significant role of rock lithology in permafrost evolution. Rock temperatures decrease by 15-20°C within upper 1500 m of section due to climate cooling in Pliocene-Holocene. Despite warmer climate, cooling effect in Kuyumbinskaya area is deeper and more intensive than in more northern Urengoy area, due to thinner sedimentary cover.
