Abstract: Describes ecosystem warming experiment, Carbon in Permafrost Experimental Heating Research (CiPEHR) project, in northern foothills of Alaska Range, interior Alaska. Results demonstrate that plant and soil microbial communities are immediately responsive to experimentally imposed increase in both air and soil temperatures, and that these changes have significant consequences for ecosystems.
