Holistic ice sheet modeling: a first-order approach / Terence J. Hughes, ed.

Title: Holistic ice sheet modeling: a first-order approach / Terence J. Hughes, ed.
Author(s): Hughes, Terence J.,
Date: 2012.
Publisher: New York: Nova Science Publishers
Abstract: Presents basic physics needed to model large continental ice sheets, past, present and future, suitable for undergraduate students. Advances hypothesis that height of ice sheet is determined by strength of ice bed coupling; uncoupling occurs mainly along ice streams and accounts for most of height loss; some lowering occurs in floating ice shelves; and these processes cause ice sheet destruction. Sixteen appendices present glaciological solutions for more advanced students.
