Abstract: Reports 57-km sea ice crossing by caribou (Rangifer tarandus caribou) off west coast of Alaska in 2012. Discusses use of GPS-collars to monitor caribou movements across sea ice. Considers effects of warming Arctic and declining sea ice cover on long-distance migrations by caribou.
