Record #202616:
Physical and biological factors affecting mercury and perfluorinated contaminants in Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) of Pingualuit Crater Lake (Nunavik, Canada) / Nikolaus Gantner, and 10 others.
Title: | Physical and biological factors affecting mercury and perfluorinated contaminants in Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) of Pingualuit Crater Lake (Nunavik, Canada) / Nikolaus Gantner, and 10 others. |
Author(s): | Gantner, Nikolaus. |
Date: | 2012. |
In: | Arctic. (2012.), Vol. 65(2) (2012) |
Abstract: | Determines and compares concentrations of two atmospherically-derived contaminants, mercury and perfluorinated chemicals (PFCs) in lake water column and fish of Pingualuit Crater Lake. Assesses physical and biological factors influencing contaminant concentrations. Mercury concentrations in Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) muscle tissue were comparable to those of char in other Arctic lakes, while concentrations of PFCs were below reported levels for other lakes in Arctic and elsewhere. |
