Record #202603:

Neoproterozoic dextral faulting on the Najd Fault system, Saudi Arabia, preceded sinistral faulting and escape tectonics related to closure of the Mozambique Ocean / Timothy M. Kusky, Mohamed I. Matsah.

Title: Neoproterozoic dextral faulting on the Najd Fault system, Saudi Arabia, preceded sinistral faulting and escape tectonics related to closure of the Mozambique Ocean / Timothy M. Kusky, Mohamed I. Matsah.
Author(s): Kusky, Timothy M.
Matsah, Mohamed I.
Date: 2003.
Publisher: London: Geological Society of London
In: Proterozoic East Gondwana : supercontinent assembly and break-up. (2003.),
Abstract: Reports that dextral offset up to 10 km on major fault in Najd Fault system has maximum age of c. 625 Ma, which provides earliest age for collision of East and West Gondwana. These dextral movements later switched to sinistral when accreted terranes caught between two continents were transported towards oceanic margin to north.
