Record #202579:
Continental growth in the Proterozoic: a global perspective / Brian F. Windley.
Title: | Continental growth in the Proterozoic: a global perspective / Brian F. Windley. |
Author(s): | Windley, Brian F. |
Date: | 2003. |
Publisher: | London: Geological Society of London |
In: | Proterozoic East Gondwana : supercontinent assembly and break-up. (2003.), |
Abstract: | Presents three tectonic environments for the growth of continents in Proterozoic time, namely: accretionary orogens, in which juvenile material is added to pre-existing continental blocks; collisional orogens; and rifts in supercontinents. Emphasises role of mantle plume tectonics in addition to plate tectonics in contributing to growth of continents. |
Notes: | In: Proterozoic East Gondwana : supercontinent assembly and break-up / M. Yoshida, B.F. Windley, S. Dasgupta, eds. |
