Record #202384:

Walrus facing new challenges in a changing Arctic / Tom Arnbom.

Title: Walrus facing new challenges in a changing Arctic / Tom Arnbom.
Author(s): Arnbom, Tom.
Date: 2009.
In: Circle. (2009.), Vol. 4 (2009)
Abstract: Discusses evidence of impact of diminution in Arctic sea ice on walrus Odobenus rosmarus populations. Identifies two possible factors: increase in risk of death by trampling as walrus colonies are concentrated into smaller haul-out sites; and difficulties in accessing sources of food owing to increased distances between pack ice and continental shelves.
