Terrane processes at the margins of Gondwana / A.P.M. Vaughan, P.T. Leat, R.J. Pankhurst, eds.
Title: | Terrane processes at the margins of Gondwana / A.P.M. Vaughan, P.T. Leat, R.J. Pankhurst, eds. |
Author(s): | Vaughan, A. P. M., Leat, P. T., Pankhurst, R. J., |
Date: | 2005. |
Publisher: | London: Geological Society |
Abstract: | Assembles reviews and research papers on Australide orogen, southern hemisphere Neoproterozoic to Mesozoic terrane accretionary orogen that forms palaeo-Pacific margin of Gondwana. Includes Tasman orogen of eastern Australia, New Zealand, Antarctica, and Neoproterozoic and Palaeozoic orogens of South America. Deals with evolution of southern Gondwana margin through series of terrane accretion episodes from late Proterozoic to final fragmentation in mid-Cretaceous. Compares with Palaeozoic northern Gondwana margin and world-wide terrane accretion episodes in Late Triassic-Early Jurassic and mid-Cretaceous. |
