Seedling establishment on small cutting areas with or without site preparation in a drained spruce mire: a case study in northern Finland / Hannu Hökkä, and 3 others.

Title: Seedling establishment on small cutting areas with or without site preparation in a drained spruce mire: a case study in northern Finland / Hannu Hökkä, and 3 others.
Author(s): Hökkä, Hannu.
Date: 2012.
In: Silva Fennica. (2012.), Vol. 46(5) (2012)
Abstract: Investigates effects of cutting canopy gaps (with and without site preparation (scalping)) on natural regeneration of Norway spruce (Picea abies) seedlings in one experimental drained spruce mire in northern Finland. Cuttings were made in winter 2004-05. Finds that seedling establishment was significantly faster and more effective in canopy openings where scalping was not implemented.
