Abstract: Describes Archaean bedrock of Karelia province in Finland as mostly consisting of granitoids whose ages vary from ca 3.50 to 2.66 Ga. Neoarchaean rocks dominate, since Palaeoarchaean and Mesoarchaean granitoids (>2.9 Ga) are only locally present in western and northern parts of province. Classifies granitoid rocks in four main groups, based on major and trace element compositions, and age.
