Spatial distribution of pico- and nano-phytoplankton and bacteria in the Chukchi Sea with relation to their water masses / Fang Zhang, and 4 others.
Title: | Spatial distribution of pico- and nano-phytoplankton and bacteria in the Chukchi Sea with relation to their water masses / Fang Zhang, and 4 others. |
Author(s): | Zhang, Fang. |
Date: | 2012. |
Language: | Chinese. |
In: | Chinese Journal of Polar Research. (2012.), Vol. 24(3) (2012) |
Abstract: | Investigates distribution patterns of pico- and nano-plankton and bacterial abundances in Chukchi Sea, based on data from third Chinese National Arctic Expedition cruise in summer 2008. Results indicate that melting sea ice affects physical characteristics of Chukchi Sea by reducing salinity of surface mixed layer which, in turn, results in greater hydrodynamic stability of water column. Changes are accompanied by increasing concentrations of bacteria. |
