Abstract: Describes reindeer horns found in ritual, often herringbone patterns, in stone graves by N.N. Dikov in 1959 in Ekiyatapskiy burial ground and by author in 1990 in Chaunskiy Rayon. Notes that evidence of horns and bones supports idea of deer cult. Discusses meaning of ritual with regard to Ekiyatapskiy burial versus traditional Chukotskiy burials. Concludes that burial of deer horns was carried out by Chuvantsy and differentiates between rites involving wild deer and domestic deer.
